The Joy of France exhibition

Peter Cizner's lens transports the viewer into the festive atmosphere of the medieval festival in Provins in June 2024, capturing a lively celebration of history, where craft traditions, jousting and festive feasts mingle. Magical creatures such as fairies and wizards are also present. The French town of Provins, now a UNESCO site, was once an important fortress founded by the Romans to protect the area east of Paris. Today, it is a major tourist destination that draws on its medieval history.

The Joy of France exhibition was moved from the BARKA Theatre in Brno to the Jihlava Municipal Library, where it was opened with a guided tour on 14 April 2025 at 4 p.m.

Life in the Streets 2020 exhibition

The photography exhibition “Life in the Streets 2020” is part of a large-scale project that captured the atmosphere of cities across the Czech Republic in the spring of 2020 at the beginning of the “covid” period. Peter Cizner's photographs can evoke deep feelings - the kind of feelings we used to have - anxiety, worry, empathy, but also joy and hope.

These photographs remind us of hope and the importance of what is good in us. Through photographs it is possible to capture different contexts, to recall, for example, vitality, courage, fear, worry, love or even wisdom, and to mix it with drops of humour. This exhibition was created because I believe that we can learn to notice when and through what we experience things similarly and what connects us in our human existence and perception. It is the opposite of the current sad indifference. It is often said that everyone experiences things subjectively, as if this were a scientifically based rule. But this is what often leads us to focus only on ourselves and stop caring about others. Rarely does it open up between us in such a way that we let each other know what's inside us in an honest and timely way.
